Britney Maxwell Shirk, MA, LMFT
Britney grew up moving around a bit. She has lived in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Finland, and Ohio. Britney received her Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. Britney holds a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Akron. She is also a registered yoga teacher and the administrator at a private school in Tomball.
Britney has worked with families, children and teens in a counseling setting as well as in church and institutional settings. She provides individual, family, child and adolescent counseling. Britney finds value in helping children, teens and adults make connections with others. She loves to work with clients to develop a plan together that empowers the individual as well as support growth inter-personally. Britney hopes to foster self resilience and self empowerment for everyone she encounters.
Britney has three young children - two daughters and one son. She values the time spent with her family and her pets are also part of the family. She has dogs, cats and chickens. She also appreciates yoga, running, travel, reading, painting, drawing, and playing outdoors. If given a day off, Britney would choose to pack up the kids and dogs and head to the beach. Given a week off, Britney would pack up to go on an adventure to places unknown.
Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up.
